WESTERN WINDS was created from song and nostalgia. During Isolation for COVID 19- over 30 days of working full time, painting after working, eating every meal 7 days a week and playing board games with my boys all while listening to music at the same table. I know you all felt the pain in your lower back as I did. Painting became my escape from escape from the table.

When I completed WESTERN WINDS and stood back to absorb the image, I found one song by Sting kept appearing in my mind and escaped my throat in the form of a hum unrelenting at every glance.

As with my life during this time period, I grabbed whatever I could find in my paper stashes and I worked with a limited palette trying different combinations for this period of work. I found that the limited colour choices (while not that limited) enabled me to explore colour on a deeper level and with more gratification.
