About the Artist

Samantha creates visual landscapes as a way to explore the depth of the soul's connection to our environment. Her work is a study in expression of emotions, thoughts, and intentions inspired by the raw and beautiful locations in which she has been blessed and fortunate to live and travel.

Her paintings explore the relationship between soul, sea, sky and land often evoking a deep and emotional connection with her viewer, enriched by their memories. Her medium of choice is Acrylic, often under painted with charcoal, and embellished with a mix of watercolour, pencil or whatever other medium is on hand to assist with creating the mood for which she is striving to translate into her work.

Samantha intentionally shares her personal life and current thoughts with each piece she creates to further share the connection with her viewers and collectors. She says,

“I find it difficult to define my style as I paint what I feel, and I paint first and foremost for myself. It is my means of expression, and development as a person. My work is to me as a journal is to a writer. I find it freeing, and use it as a tool to work through more complex emotions and thoughts that happen in my daily life. The intention of my work is not only to process what is in front of me but, to openly start a discussion about the complexities of life with others in an honest way. Every day we hear more about the struggles and feeling disconnected in our society. My art is my way of being transparent and open with others in the hopes of sharing our experiences unhindered; to listen and to allow them to be heard.”

She goes to further state that what brings the most value to her as an artist is when a buyer shares their connection, often a story, that her work has brought to the surface. Sharing these stories with strangers, connecting through her art, makes it worth while.

Artist Statement

“I am an artist whose intention is to make a connection through storytelling and the sharing of life’s lessons and hardships. My work is a transcript through landscapes. I work mostly in acrylics, capturing a sense of safety by using the grounding power of the horizon. I don’t intend to paint a specific location or place, rather I allow my thoughts and mood to dictate the scene.

It is my hope that my images inspire, in my viewers and collectors, a memory, a dream, or an experience that begs to be shared. Thereby, creating a discussion between souls, where the expression of my soul and my viewers' become a shared experience.”
