While visiting Tarana Valley a few years ago, I woke to a view like this. Outside my room in the crisp fall air at Mutton Falls, I enjoyed my morning cup of coffee and contemplated what the old poplar trees had witnessed. There they stood, always at attention, ever faithful to their post, knowing when the days heat up, they will metamorphose into pillars of green that gradually change over time to bright flames of yellow and orange. They repeat the process, growing in strength with each passing cycle.
